Default The New Honda S2200 Coupe!

Hey All,

I apologize in advance if this something everyone has already talked about, but I don't remember it being discussed before. A friend of mine at work who has an in at Honda turned me on to what he says is the next generation of the S2000! Honda is looking at the model year 2003/2004 to introduce an S2000 coupe that they will apparently be calling the S2200.

Here's a pic:

Here's a quote from the caption that ran under the picture, which was featured on a German Honda fansite:

" 'We will never make a Coupe

This first appeared in the British weekly magazine, 'Auto Express' and is a not too cleverly photo-shopped pic. I mean, just try to figure out how that rear wiper would work! Is it going to wipe just the one side of the window or is it designed to slide across the window like those B&O record decks

Where the AWD bit came from I have no idea; IIRC that didn't appear in the very short and pretty uninformative Auto Express article and I don't see how the drive-train would be accommodated.

FYI, 'Auto Express' often get things completely wrong with their "scoops"

Pete

I want to like but I just can't. I think an S2000 with a hard top looks better than that frankly. The S2000 just wasn't designed to be a coupe and I think it shows in the pic above.

PS.
Vincent, also ask yourself, from a commercial standpoint, what would be the point of a Honda building a 2 seat coupe when the convertible with hard-top option already exists (even if they did manage to get the engine up to 2.2 litres)?

Best AutoExpress was when they said they did a test drive with the Toyota MRS describing it's handling characteristics at speed only for someone to tell a paper the car they actually had was pretty much just a shell with a small motor in it used only for getting it on and off of trailers

Sorry ppl, but I like the looks of this Coupe more than the removable hard-top. The hard-top is too plain lookin. Although, the roof line is a bit high on the Coupe, but I'm sure Honda will touch it up if they do decide to produce it. The Coupe reminds me of the last gen RX-7...from behind.

It'd be GREAT if Honda offered an AWD S2k...but is it possible with a transverse engine?

I'll believe it when I see it on the street. Even if I see it I'll not believe that it is four wheel drive.
