Default equipment for bleeding brakes

Hello all,

I want to replace my brake fluid before Laguna Seca and RWD_RCKT has offered to help (thank you!) but I just have a few questions. It has been a long time since I last bled the brakes myself so here I go...

I have a lot of good things about ATE Super Blue in the archives. Where can I find this stuff here in the bay area?

What kind of a hose do I attach from the bleeder valve to my bottle? Where can I buy this from?

To get all the old fluid out, I'm assuming I just keep pumping the brake pedal with the valve open. Is this correct?

Thanks!

Buy a set of Speed Bleeders and their bleed bag/tube for $37 (www.speedbleeder.com). Check the FAQ for the correct part number. It will save you lots of time and effort I switched to Motul 600 which you can buy from King Motorsports. I bought 1 liter for about $26.

There is also a "MitiVac" kit available for bleeding brakes that will come with everything you need. It's usually available locally at Kragen or Sears or somesuch.

I found a place that carries ATE Super Blue brake fluid here in the south bay:

http://www.newdimensions.com/

New Dimensions
2240 De La Cruz Blvd
Santa Clara, CA 95050
(408) 980-1691

I'll be heading over to this place during lunch today.

it takes a few weeks to get speedbleeders, i wouldn't count on them showing up in time for LS.

I buy all my fluids at frey racing in milpitas. freyracing.com

Actually, I got mine in three to four days. I was surprised it came so quickly. Thanks for the link Josh.

Just picked up some Motul 5.1 DOT Brake fluid at Frey Racing. Its what they recommended. Does that sound ok to you guys? I'll be bleeding the system out next week before the inspection.

I don't think DOT 5 brake fluid is compatible with DOT 3 or 4. You might want to return it and get DOT 4 brake fluid. Get the Motul RBF 600 DOT 4 fluid.
