Yesterday on my way to work, I received a call from Shad @ Comptech. He told me that he wanted to see if I could make it up to Comptech some time so he can install a new bracket on my SC. Yesterday was my last day at my old job, starting a new one on Monday. I knew I wouldn't have any time off to get up there during the week for quite some time, so I quickly packed up my cube, drove my prelude home, jumped in the S, and took off for Comptech HQ. Traffic was a nightmare! I left at 1:30 and didn't get to Comptech until 5:00!!!

Anyway, Shad told me that he had installed a new bracket for both DavePK & SilverSurfer, and he wanted to install it on mine because of my involvement at Diablo. He wants us to test these prototypes before putting them into production. I was overjoyed at the opportunity. The new bracket is made of steel, and the new VTEC bracket is ABSOLUTELY HUGE! He informed me that they will probably make it look the same color as the old stock one, but since it was a proto, it was just plated steel. Fine by me! I love it!

After Shad pulled the blower off, he began the process of moving the blower to the new bracket. I told him that there was an oil leak of some kind from under the hood and I was thinking it was from a lose or faulty return hose. Shad closer inspected the blower and noticed that my old blower was missing the seal around the shaft!!! There was some belt shards down there still and he feels that by not fully removing the belt from the pulley shaft that that was what caused the seal to fail. He wanted me to stress to everyone that if a belt breaks to COMPLETELY INSPECT ALL PULLEYS to verify there is no belt debris around anything before reinstalling a new belt! I thought everything was fully removed. I guess not. Shad then replaced my blower completely! OMG, I was astonished!

Here is a pic comparing the old vs new brackets

He then installed the blower again and we were back up and running.

A few spins around the Comptech area w/ the honda computer attached verified that all temps and boost was at the right level. The new bracket has rubber isolaters (This might change to a higher life poly bushing) and this has helped TREMENDOUSLY in isolating the shaking and shuddering that was present before. My shift knob is now back to its stock shaking amount. Perfect!!

All in all, I want to thank Shad & Comptech for letting me help test the brackets out on my car. I fully feel that this will solve the only small problem that some people have had with the kit. We were at Comptech until 9:30pm on a Friday. I'm sorry for messing up Shad's Friday night.

Shad's wonderful install and amazing customer service has completely wiped away any doubt in my mind. Comptech takes customer satisfaction and product quality very seriously and their dedication to producing a stable & safe kit shows!

Thanks Shad & Comptech for making my S2000 kit absolutely perfect!

#1 in my book!

man thats great. i had thought that the issue would be unresolved for a long while. it's great to know that all this time Comptech was working on a solution. that new bracket looks sweet. let us all know how it feels a couple hundred/thousand miles from now.

now if only someone can convince Comptech to resolve the fitment problems of their CAI... i'd be extra impressed

Any word on when it will go ino production? Since they are barely beginning testing on this new bracket, my guess is that it will not be available for a couple of months.

Yes the lastest version IMO is a significant improvement over any previous design from Comptech. Dave's has had his rubber isolated mounting hardware on for a while now and hasn't broken any brakets.

Comptech, I'm glad it's finally fixed.

Has anyone cracked the new bracket? Just curious about the reliability on the new bracket...

Dave is the only one that has his setup for any length of time and he has not had any failures. I have had mine for about 2 weeks now and it is also doing good. Only time will tell. But it feels much better than previous versions.

Don't have any cracks yet...BUT. Have just noticed the Vtec bracket is leaking oil BIG time. Any other issues like this? I noticed that Ozy mentioned a different type of mount in this area on the new bracket...? Old ones bad here as well??
Thanx for the replies.

You may want to remove it and check the oil screen gasket. There are two, one that goes against the block and one that fits inbetween the VTEC solenoid and VTEC Bracket. I had one tear on me which caused an oil leak.
Your VTEC bracket maybe cracked but can not see it.

I have about 2500 miles, 2 track days and an autocross on the new isolated mounting setup. So far there have been no problems of any type with this setup and the vibration level is significantly reduced from previous setups.
