I've seen this on the the best motoring video where they reviewed the RSX Type R and that is the first part of the battle of the touge, the S2000 actually beat the EVo on the second run.

 

That was the EDM ver. of the EVO VII.
The US will be receiving a water down ver. with a quoted 250hp engine.
Can't wait to have one of these in my garage.

I think the commentators were from The Iron Chef.

 

The US Evo is going to be a 250HP car. No possible 0-60 in 4.3 seconds.

It will be faster than the S2000. US Evo VIII (8) 1/4mi on 13.8 and 0-60 on 4.8 (estimated times)

But think about it, the WRX Sti will be here and with 6 speeds and 265HP, guess who's the winner.

The british CAR magazine tested a lot of cars in the same test, including the E46 M3 and the Evo VII. Guess what? 0-60 Evo VII, 1/4mi M3. The new Mustang beats the E46 M3 everywhere.

Anyway, at that time (spring 2003), the S2000 is not going to be a king in the 4-cyl territory anymore. But we have to recognize that at that time , the S2000 had 4 years doing so good.

Remember those Sentra SE-R, DelSol Vtec, GSX, well the S2000 will have its time.

Next year, the big talks will be Evo VIII, Sti and Cobra. Period. The bang for the buck!

The new Boxster S is coming with 270HP . BMW is having major issues with the inline-6 on the M3. F-body dies this year. New vette still in R&D. New viper not affordable. 350Z is heavy (Mustang like) amd only 300HP. S2000 no plan for improvements.

But S2000 owners are happiest people on the road. Who else can redline at 9000rpm. The S2000 is everything about FUN. FUN!!!

The only car that would substitute my S2000 is the 2003 Boxster S. Next SLK and Z3 wil be bigger, heavier, more powerful, yes ... Corvette like. If I did not buy the Convertible Vette, even than I can afford it, why I am going to get the next M Roadster or next SLK.

Install 400HP on any Evo or WRX, and I still will get the S2000. Fun makes people happy. Top down, Vtec music, a lovely girl, who cares about Evo or WRX.
