Default Honda must redesign IAT sensor

It seems clear that the S2000 has problems with heat management. From sluggish behavior to stumbling / stalling engine, the IAT sensor is either incorrectly located or incorrectly designed. After my check engine light went off again, the fault once again pointed to the IAT sensor.

Mind you, there is nothing wrong with the IAT sensor per se. It's just not the "right" sensor for the S2000 period. Under extreme temperatures (like living in the Philippines), the IAT sensor goes out of range, thus causing all these stumbling / hesitation problems. I believe those who live in Houston and Arizona or hot places in general suffer the same problems especially in bumper to bumper traffic.

I really do not know how Honda is going to fix this problem but it's high time they did. Sure this problem has sparked our creative juices in creating our own custom designed thermal wrap and CAI. IMO, these mods transform the S2000 into a visual eyesore. In any case, can we all get Honda to fix this?

Or else, I'd have to go buy some thermal wrapping myself and rewire the auxiliary fans as to run with a flip of a switch hmmm...

Do other people have this problem? I admit that I am not in the hottest climate but we have had steady 95

I've experienced freeway gridlock on more than one occasion when temps were over 100, but have never had the problems you mention. Believe me, when it's 100 degrees here, the humidity is about 80% or better; it's definitely HOT!

I have had this problem recently. Very hot in Chicago now, and with the A/C on sometimes when i pull out of the gates it feels like someone has pulled the plug on the juice (mixed metaphor?) and I come very close to stalling. I thought it was me and the weird clutch action engaging at the top of the pedal travel...although I have driven a lot of Hondas with the same type of clutch feel and didn't have the engine stumble on me.

Even in car magazine reviews, they say that the S2000 idles like 200,000 mile Accord...

I've noticed the sluggishness, but the CAI probably takes care of this even on hot days. I have yet to make a choice of CAI and stick it on...

I'm not sure this is necessarily temperature related. I have the stop/start stumbles occur regularly. Interesting enough it happens summer (40C) or winter (5C) and nearly always at the same place (i.e. within 10 metres of the same location!!!) on my regular commute to work. I can't explain this but I do know that that particular spot is also a drop out area for mobile phones !!

I know this sounds weird but I wonder if we're picking up some strange electronic signals that are somehow affecting the ECU??

Quality of fuel matters also - the S2000 is probably more sensitive to fuel quality since it tries to extract as much as it can out of every drop of fuel.
