Default Room reservations for Madd About Driving

I have confirmed that the Double Tree Hotel has reserved 75 rooms for us at $125.00 a night (double occupancy/regular rate $239.00). Here is a link to their site.

http://www.doubletreemonterey.com/rooms.html

We are also having our breakfast their on March 17 between 9:00am-10:30am also. All you have to do is call the Hotel and tell them you are with the MADD About Driving Event and they make your reservation for you. You have until February 15 to make your reservations. The rooms are either 1 king bed or 2 queen beds. If you want a suite and share a room with other people they are also available at a discounted rate.

If you want a room with a view or bigger room so you can share with other people they will also give you a discount on those rooms too.

Kuni,

My call to the hotel around 9 PM was routed to the 24 hours reservation center in Pennsylvania. The operator who took my call knows nothing of the "MADD about driving" group rate or reserved block of 75 rooms. She suggested that I should call the hotel during regular business hours and talk to the in house reservation. I will try that tomorrow. I just want to post this information up so others could save a toll call. BTW, does this hotel have a toll free number?

Here is the number you need to call

1 800 522 8733

They did not have anything in their computers until this morning. You can now call and use MADD About Driving as the event name.

One of the few areas where I balk at spending money is for hotel stays. I can spend 5 nights at the Clarion for what 2 costs me at Doubletree, which is what I plan to do.

I hope you will be putting out a detailed schedule so it will be easy to hook up with the rest of the gang in Monterey. (The Clarion is about 10 minutes from the Doubletree).

People can stay where ever they want, we just reserved some rooms because we thought it would be nice for everyone to stay at the same place. Mas and I will be working out a detail schudule for everyone and it looks like the SilverSurfer is going to set up a dinner on Saturday at the Blue Fin. I will post all the details of everything that is happening tomorrow.

Thanks, kuni.

By the way, is there going to be some kind of form, flyer, certificate or whatever to "legitimatize" our solicitations for funds? I'm planning to hit up several people, not all of whom I know well, and would like to have something to show them I'm not running some kind of a scam.

Another thought--is this restricted to S2ks, or can any Honda/Acura participate?

I sure hope it's restricted to S2K's.... otherwise it becomes a car show of egos instead of an enthusiast charity drive. Just my opinion.
