Default inspired by Xviper... here's mine

I've yet to measure the difference of mine yet... but I will in a bit.

I went to walmart and got of all things got some windshield sun shade/reflector. It kinda worked out such that the location that is cut out for the rear view works over the radiator cap. So benith it I cut another piece and a X cut to slip over the cap. I also cut two X's for the bumpers. I trimed it so it would fit cleanly. And above is the result. Total cost, $5.95 + 1.0825% tax.

Actually looks decent too!

One question. Are both sides of the material foil coated? If not, you'll want to turn it over so that the foil reflects radiant heat away from the intake.

Shing,

Any ideas yet how this stuff will last under the extreme heat form the engine bay? If it holds up, I think I'll do the same...sweet idea!

Actually I was thinking about that today... the radiator shouldn't get more than 200 degrees. If that... and I know the inside of the car on houston summer day will get close to 175... so it should be ok. I'll find out this afternoon when I go drive in the heat.

Great Job!

I wonder how this compares against the anti -heat materials sold for floorboards, etc?

This shield prevents heated air rising from the engine compartment or back of radiator from getting into the air intake. What you have in a sense created is a huge cold air intake funnel. I bet a dyno would show some improvement, since even if car is stationary, the charge air may be cooler.
