S2000 build quality, internal trim pieces?
One reason I'm looking at an S2K is that the interior of my Audi TT 225 Coupe is beautiful, but poorly executed. In particular, there are a lot of rattles from odd places in the dash, behind the dash, etc., and there are other bits of the interior that are just plain resonant at certain engine RPMs. A nit, seemingly, but not when your car makes the same crack-crack noises whenever you go over the same bumps on the way to work.
Is the interior of the S2000 any better in this regard? There seems to be a fair amount of plastic in the S2K interior as well, but at least historically Honda's been better about keeping their trim pieces a bit more silent.
For what it's worth, the Boxster I test drove was 100% quieter than my TT, with some odd rattles from the doors over severe bumps but that's about it.
How quiet has the interior of your S2000 been (other, of course, than VTEC noise? ;-))

cowl shake: This is a vibration or shake of a vehicle, usually a convertible type, in the cowl area due to lack of torsional rigidity of the frame and body. A certain amount is almost unavoidable in convertibles unless frame-strengthening weight penalties are of no concern.
1. The S2000 interior is simple and clean thus not much to go wrong.
2. Honda makes some of the best plastic in the biz.
3. To reduce weird noises tuck the passenger seat buckle into belt guide at the top of the seat and make sure you don't have your seat backs pushing against the hooks behind the seats (causes a leather rub sound).

I've had the car for more than 2 years and there is very little in terms of noise that I hear. BUT, there are a couple of things that may be irritating to some people:
1) The passenger seat belt buckle rattles sometimes, as already pointed out. (easy to fix by moving the buckle)
2) The top latches rattle sometimes when the top is closed. (also easy to fix if you really want to, but since my top is down most of the time, it doesn't bother me)
3) If you put the boot cover on, the elastic strap vibrates at certain speed/wind combinations (oscillation) sometimes. (also easy to fix by twisting the strap, or just don't use the cover)
4) The leather seats can generate squeaks if you are wearing a leather jacket or some other material. (haven't found a fix for this problem yet, maybe I should wax the seats
)
That's all the source of noise in the S2000. Note that all of them are "sometimes" depending on your particular car -- i.e., some cars may have it more than others. The problem with leather rubbing comes with all leather seats, not just the S2000. Otherwise it is a very solid car.

The only rattle I have is self inflicted. My full size Rick's windscreen rattles while I drive. I have recently tried a repair method, but haven't tested it yet. No other rattles but I've only had it 3 1/2 months and 2500 miles.
