Cut apart valet key to access immobolizer for S2000 key
I cut off the plastic top to my valet key to see how easy it was to get out the immoblizer to install in the new S2000 keys now being ordered from Japan for a group buy being run by sik182: http://www.s2000online.com/forums/showthre...?threadid=19973.
It was not very hard to cut the plastic piece off. I haven't removed the immoblizer yet -- it's sandwiched in the cone-shaped plastic piece embedded in the middle of the key head. Here's a picture.

It looks the same from both sides. The immoblizer is press fit into a hole in the key head. Let's hope the S2000 key from Japan has that hole, otherwise we'll probably have to cut one, and we might have to completely take apart the key head to do it, which might mess up it up. Why are we doing this? Are we obsessed or what?

Wouldn't it be a bummer if the RFID chip in the valet key was different from the one used in the regular key and the ECU could recognize the difference and put the car into a "valet" mode by bringing the rev limiter down to 6000 rpm? Probably won't happen but just a thought.
I can't recall which one it was but there was a car where the owner could place his/her car into a "valet" mode which limited the peak horsepower to prevent hot rodding by valet parkers. I liked that feature.

Hey guys
I have a diagram on how to disable the immobilizer in order to install remote start for an alarm. It would work for those that want to use the new key but of course, the immobilizer would be permanently disabled. I am sure that it would work but you would no longer have the theft deterent benefits of the factory system. Let me know if you want the diagram and I will try to post it or tell you step by step. It would not involve cutting the chip out of an existing key.
