installing strut bar
Wondered if anyone had any problems from dealers? Sent car for servicing the other day at the dorchester dealer, and enquired about fitting the MUZ undercarriage strut bar and the service lady was really trying her best to put me off it by saying why do u need a strutbar for and that i might void the warranty as it is not a Honda spare part and etc. I went on to tell her in no uncertain terms that if i wanted to better my car, it's really none of her business , just wanted a quote from them to do it. Was otehrwise quite pleased with their service. Has anyone else had problems with their warranty being void with all these mods?

The only issue I have heard regarding strut bars/braces concern insurance and car safety - the rumour....and I state it no stronger than that.....I heard alleged that by fitting a front strut bar you may prevent the frontal impact crumple zones from performing properly, thus compromising the cars passive safety.
What concerns me with these struts and braces is that by their nature they are stiffening up the car. This must exert more stress on certain parts of the car than the manufacturer intended.
Honda spent a fortune designing the car without these addenda, and if a problem was caused by stressing the car in places not considered by Honda, then I think they would be quite reasonable to refuse any warranty work where the struts/braces may have been a factor.
I accept it's different for track cars, or those that are serviced/maintained far more than required, as any problems would be spotted and rectified early on, but for the normal road use and servicing that we do, I can't but think they could cause problems in the long term.

When I took my car in for it's first service I warned the desk that I had replaced the air filter with a K&N and therefore no need to change and fitted a CAI.
"You do realise that you have invalidated your warranty" was their reply. "Your arse I have" I retorted.
After seeing the mod (just the AUS AIE) the chap relented that he may have been a little over zealous.
I think it's their standard response if anyone changes anything.
Use a pinch of salt.
Ultimately if your car develops a problem as a result of a modification you have made that area is not covered.
i.e. If my air intake system gets stuffed and it's a result of the AIE then I could be on my own.
