Help! Check engine light after CAI install.
I installed an Injen CAI on my 2002 last night without probs and I think I got the vacuum lines in the right places. The car runs incredibly better, great growl at VTEC, and noticeable mid and top-end power increase. However, I've got the check engine icon lit and don't know if I crossed a vacuum line or what's going on. Anyone have any advice? Thanks - first post.
I would double check the this valve. As you can see I have a Comptech CAI but I think that you have to mess with the same valve with the Injen CAI.
If this is it, after you fix it remove the negitive side of the battery for 30sec-60sec. This will reset the ECU.
Hope this helps

Thanks very much for the reply. However, in my installation this is just a hollow plastic tapered connector to fit the stock vacuum line to the replacement line. I will try disconnecting the battery though, I thought of it but decided not to do it -- guess I will now. Thanks again.
That valve comes stock on your car. Its a check valve. I would double check it. You have to leave it in there, for your vaccum lines to stay pressurized properly. It took me almost 45mins to figure it out. When installing a CAI you should have had to replace the hoses so that there not so long. I could be wrong though.
I hope you figure it out.

Darknight is correct the check valve is the most common problem....other issues may occur........
Stand in the front of your car. Just to the right of the head is the fuel rail. Two vaccum control lines will be coming towards you. The top line should lead to the check valve noted in Darks photo. The valve will have an obvious white small diameter ( as seen in Dark's photo). This should face down. The down side connects into the left side of the block on the frame rail. The up side to the top fuel rail vacuum line.
Just below this vacuum hose on the fuel rail is a second hose. This hose should run to the "air control solenoid". There are two inputs to the solenoid control valve and this one goes to the inboard input.
The final hose goes from the outboard vaccuum port of the air solenoid valve to the frame mounted control box on the right hand side (opposite and below the 1st hose we discussed..... the one with the check valve).
Clear your ECU and happy motoring.....

Note: Very Rare.....if you are plumbed correctly and still get a light get some 3 mm vacuum hose from Pep Boys (etc.). Some Honda's have a fitting on the air solenoid valve that is smaller the that supplied by aftermarket intake folks (i.e. AEM).

Utah, DK,
Wow! You know your vacuum lines. Yes, I had two lines crossed. Utah's directions and DK's photo were exactly correct. I put the line on the inboard nipple on the vacuum control solenoid, reset the ECU and presto, no more Check Engine icon. Drove the car about five miles and it stayed off. I sure appreciate your response and sharing your knowledge. Well done and thanks both of you for the help. The car still runs great with the Injen too.
