Default I test drove a subaru sti today and.......

Man I gotta tell you I'm not impressed.
As soon as I leave with it I notice it has nice power. No lag like our cars before vtech. The turbo lag was very minimal.

That was about as good as it got. The handling was ok. I'm sure if I owned the car I would have been able to push it a little more around the turns but I just didn't feel safe in the car! The shifter was sloppy. I asked the salesman if they could get a short throw shifter for it and he said it already had one in it. and the brakes were horrible. It seemed as though it took forever to stop.

I drove this car down a windy road that is very good for testing a cars handling. I drive my s down it all the time

in closing I'm not a huge fan of this car
I expected a lot more from this car.

i have driven a base wrx, and i was definitely turned off by how imprecise it was --- on just about every level. power is great, but not everything.

I also drove a base WRX and was not impressed- until the sales manager took me for a ride (the car is his demo)- then- wow. He had been driving it for about a month and could really fling it around, the grip is amazing. Think you would just need some adjustment time. I really thought my S had some voodoo handling until I got used to it (my first rwd car).

On a related note, a buddy of mine that has had 911's, etc (and does not like Japanese cars in general) drove an EVO and said that it was hands down the best handling car he had ever driven.

the owner of this puppy took me for a ride today.. This car is simply amazing. In the right hands it'll school the S2000 any day of the week. I just held on to dear life as he blasted up the canyon. I'd get one in a heart beat.

oh well beauty is in the eye of the beholder
i didnt like it
the shifter was enough for me. i couldnt feel what gear i was in.
dont get me wrong. the power was nice. and in the right hands it might beat the S. but i honistly didnt like the way it felt. i test drove a wrx before i owned my S and i liked it. but i hated this STI and i would never ever buy one.

How is this related to the S2000?

This belongs in Car Talk. Moving there now.

EVO or STI? I dont see how the extra .5 displacement makes the car just even with the EVO? Is it for future modding? Is the gearing for top speed?
