Default Is there a limit on the number of keyless remote entries?

I have 3 but I can't get the third one to work. Is there a limit to the number of keyless remote entry devices that will work on an S? Is it limited to 2?

Why not just change your remote battery?

I think the battery is fine. I just can't seem to program it to work the doors or trunk. The other two work fine, but #3 just won't take the program.

I'll probably stop by the dealer and ask him to look at it.

Perhaps the third remote has not been programmed to your car. My remotes were missing when I picked up my car, and had to be ordered. Since they were generic remotes, they had to be programmed. Perhaps someone here knows the process.

I've tried to program the third one, but it doesn't seem to work. Thats why I wondered if 2 was the limit. I'll let you know after I check with my dealer.

I don't think the car knows how many remotes you have. What if you lost one and had to get another one? It doesn't know you lost one nor does it know you have an extra one.

Not quite so silly as you think. Programmable garage door openers store the transmitted code from the sender. My garage door openers have the ability to store the code from only 4 senders, and therefore if I had a 5th sender it wouldn't work. Of course, the opener wouldn't know which one was the first and etc., but if you program 4 in, it will not accept the 5th. My question really was, How many sender codes can be programmed into the car's memory, if in fact it works that way.

Are you programming the car's code into the sender, or like my garage door openers, are you programming the sender's code into the car's memory?

ralper, I know what you are trying to say. Our receiver can store up to 3 remotes. If you try to put in a 4th, the first one that was ever programmed will be "kicked out".
From the Helm manual, p. 22-134:
Does the LED on the transmitter come on when you press a button? If not, the remote is faulty.
Press the lock or unlock button 5-6 times to reset the transmitter.
If the locks still don't work, did you get the remote wet? If so, replace - it's toast.
Battery OK?

You probably know this but just in case:
To program:
Close doors, hood, trunk.
1. Ignition ON.
2. Within 1-4 secs. push lock or unlock while aiming the remote at the receiver.
3. Within 1-4 secs, turn OFF ignition.
4. Within 1-4 secs, turn ON ign.
5. Within 1-4 secs, repeat (2.)
6. Within 1-4 secs, turn OFF ign.
7. Within 4 secs, turn ON ign.
8. Within 1-4 secs, repeat (2.)
9. Within 1-4 secs, turn OFF ign.
10. Within 4 secs, turn ON ign.
11. Within 1-4 secs, repeat (2.)
12. Confirm that you hear the door lock actuators. Within 1-4 secs, push the transmitter lock or unlock button again. The keyless receiver is now in the program mode. You must push the transmitter lock or unlock button of the first transmitter again to program that remote.
13. Within 10 secs, aim the transmitters (up to three) whose codes you want to store at the receiver, and press the transmitter lock or unlock buttons. Confirm that you can hear the sound of the door lock actuators after each transmitter code is stored.
14. Turn ign. OFF, and pull out the key.
15. Confirm the operation of the new codes.

16. I need a ciguarette!

xviper

Thanks. Thats what I wanted to know. I didn't think 2 was the limit, but I couldn't get the third to work.

The LED on the sender works and it is fairly new and has never been wet. I think the problem is my programming technique. I will try tomorrow following your instructions and post the results. If it doesn't work I go see my Honda dealer.

Thanks.
