Vafc????
I don't have one, but I've been getting allot of info about them from people that do have them. They are piggy back computers that allow the user to optimize air / fuel ratios and VTEC engagement. The default fuel maps that the ECU uses make the engine run really rich at wide open throttle. The VAFC allows you to adjust the amount of fuel, to optimize power output. You can also raise / lower the RPM that VTEC turns on / off. Most agree that the VAFC alone will increase rear wheel HP by around 10 HP. You can get them used for around $200, or new for around $300. If you want the installation to be easy, you can also purchase a pre-wired harness (plug-n-play) for around $100.
RE: manifold insulator .................. search "Hondata gasket". It basically insulates the intake manifold from the heat conducted from the head, keeping cooler than without it.
RE: VAFC ............ while many people have reported this to be very effective in giving some gains, some people have also reported they are quite troublesome. Also a search of "VAFC" will reveal hundreds of threads on this.

I really like my Hondata gasket. I hooked up an OBD-II device and watched my Intake Air Tempurature during a drive, and it looked like it did a pretty damn good job of keeping it cool. After letting the car sit for a bit (heat soak), my IAT went up to over 150 deg. F, then after driving it around, it dropped to the low 80's. Ambient was in the high 50's.
A guy I met with an s2000 told me he ran low 13's (13.2 i think it was) with just a v-afc, but only before blowing the engine and having to get a new one. true or not... i dunno, but that's just what i was told.
