I was looking on www.edmunds.com and the site www.1sourceautowarranty.com and the quote for 7yr/100K diamond plan is $829 for a 2001 S2000. My 2001 S2000 silver/red should be here in the next couple of weeks!!!!

I am wondering if this non-Honda warranty is any good????

Anyone have experience with the 1sourceautowarranty ????

What prices have been quoted for similar Honda and non-Honda warranties?????

There was a pretty extensive discussion on extended warranties on another board.

I did some research before I decided to purchase a Honda Care Extended Warranty when my car was nine months old. With a Honda Care warranty, you can be sure that your car is fixed with Genuine Honda parts and by Honda mechanics. I bought mine through John Eagle Honda in Dallas, after being referred there by cdelena. I paid $880 for a 7 year /75,000 mile/$0 deductible warranty.

I talked to someone at GE about their extended warranty and she assured me that they would use genuine parts, but she also started talking about "cost effective".

The S2000 is a unique car, why cut corners? If it was just an Accord or Civic, sure get the cheapest extended warranty you can find and don't worry about it. Chances are, you probably wouldn't need an extended warranty for either of those cars though.

With the S2000 though, it appears that the cutting-edge technology that is being used may mean that the S2000 is not going to run forever like an ordinary Honda. That's why I bought an extended warranty after hearing about porous blocks, bad oil seals, blown transmissions, blown differentials, etc. I had my fuel injectors replaced at 10,000 miles.

I don't want to be paying for repairs on this finely tuned thoroughbred when it's four, five and six years old.

One thing that I forgot to mention:

Honda's extended warranty is sold by dealers who can sell them for any price they want. The same warranty that I paid $880 for, my local dealer wanted $1,400.

Shop around and try to bargain. I contacted John Eagle Honda by phone and told them that I knew someone who had purchased the warranty from them and asked if I could get the same price. They said sure and then I told them I was from San Diego. They hesitated at that initially and then decided that it wouldn't be a problem.

True, I've got the 5 yr plan for $580 I think. I don't think you're going to have a problem with genuine parts. The production numbers are so low that there probably wont be any other parts but genuine. Those that will exist will be upgrades anyway. "Sorry, we had to install the Mugen LSD since the genuine Honda one wasn't cost effective."

I dealt with Mike Herald. I don't have his phone number handy, but if you do an Internet search for their Web site, you can just call their main number.

I was "hypnotized" to pay an extra hundred dollars for my Honda 7 year/75,000 mile/$0 deductible warranty. My question: can you still return the extended warranty you bought with Honda because I haven't used it yet and buy it somewhere else? Or is it too late and I just need kick myself for being a sucker?

It doesn't help the people that already have the extended warranty, but my service manager advised me not to by the warranty right away. The extended warranty is available up until 3 months before the standard warranty is up. Don't know about mileage limits.
