So my CTSC had a wastegate on it for some reason. I just installed my 7psi/4.0" pulley today and my boost seems to be stopping at 5psi? I haven't driven it enough to really tell, but I don't seem to be getting all the boost I should be getting.

So, I want to remove this Turnonetics wastegate that is on my aftercooler for some reason. My question is, what do I cover the remaining hole with? Can I just cut a piece of metal, make a gasket, bolt it down and seal it with silicone? Or are there special parts that I would need?

 

wastegate on the aftercooler? are you sure its not a turbonetics blow off valve bro?

 

It's a blow off valve, not a wastegate on the aftercooler...

First thing you should do is check for belt slip/ loose belt. If you can rotate the belt past 90 degrees it's too loose.

 

It's for sure a wastegate (see thread https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.ph...ic=794115&hl=)

There shouldn't be any belt slip as I tightened the belt correctly, and it does not turn beyond 90 degrees.

Really just looking for a way to cover the hole left by the Wastegate.

OK, I would pull the aftercooler and have a piece welded over the hole. You could cut a piece of aluminum out and then make a paper gasket, but welding it shut is an easy way to make sure it never leaks.

I bet your only getting five pounds because that wastegate has a five pound spring in it.

 

Yea this is what I'm thinking.

I bought the kit used, and the wastegate was already on it. Not sure in what way the previous owner was utilizing it, but I want to get rid of it. I'm guessing it might just make more sense to swap it with a BOV, though it's on the opposite side of the aftercooler where most people put BOVs, and it's a tight fit on that side. Hmmm

 

just get it welded over bro. its your best and easiest solution technically. slap a bov on the other side for fitment and aesthetics.

 

You already have a BPV/BOV installed in the correct location, I don't know why everyone keeps telling you put replace the wastegate with a BOV.

All you need to do is cover the hole with a plate if you remove the wastegate, OR simply remove the vacuum line running to it, that will be enough to prevent it from opening and bleeding off boost.

 

Id say keep the wastegate, get a 3.0 pulley for the blower, and a spring for the wastegate so it stays at your desired boost level...perhaps 7/8 psi which I assume is what you desire to have...?
