Default What Mazda Had 4.44 Gears?

I believe mazda has 4.44 gears that fit into the S2k. I have been browsing the different OEM car catalogs through mazda comp and havent seen any car that had more than 4.3. Can anyone tell me what car they are finding the 4.44 gears from, or a part # would be even better! Thanks

Your information is incorrect. You should be looking at Kia.

Don't know about the 4.77s but my Miata came stock with a 4.30:1 rear ratio so your catalog may not be accurate.

Mine's a 1999 1.8 5 speed Miatas with the torsen LSD get a 4.3 ratio.

Mazda Competition parts makes a variety of ring/pinion sets, not sure which would be compatible with the S2000 Torsen.

They do make a 4.875:1 that fits Miata diffs from 1994-2001.

Here's a list of all the ring/pinion sets I can find in my Mazda Competition catalog but no idea on fitment at all.

0000-02-8601 RING & PINION, 5.12 RX-8 2004-2005
P0A5-27-110A RING - PINION 4.3
0662-27-950A RING AND PINION 4.875 MIATA 1990-93
0662-27-950A-AW RING AND PINION 4.8 - DEBURRED AND COATED MIATA 1990-93
1312-27-110A RING AND PINION 4.875 79-85 RX-7, MIATA 1979-5, 1994-01
Short pinion design. Fits 79-85 RX-7, 1994-01 Miata, RX-2, and RX-3 SP. Can also be lengthened to fit 86-91 RX-7 non turbo.

1480-27-110 RING AND PINION 5.125 RX-7 1979-85, MIATA 1994-01
Short pinion design. Fits 79-85 RX-7, 1994-01 Miata, RX-2, and RX-3 SP. Can also be lengthened to fit 86-91 RX-7 non turbo.

Again, I have no idea which of these may or may be a suitable replacement for the S2000 gearset. I suspect that the ones from the Miatas prior to 1994 will NOT fit.

Hope that helps.

Wow, thanks for the list, i found all of those when browsing the catalogs but couldnt find any 4.44, which i had seen someone mention in an older post.

The 4.87 may work, but i'd have to calculate the % change and the gear speeds to see if its realistic.

OK, found it. The Mazda 4.44 gear is from one of their trucks, and does fit in the later (1994+) Miata rear.

You can get Mazda 4.44 gears from www.racingbeat.com. Look under RX-7. That's where I bought mine.
