Default Track Car Intake , Header , Exhaust Combo ?

I'm building a Track Day car that will see some street duty.

Does anybody have objective Dyno results on Intake / Header / Test Pipe / Exhaust Combos that they can share.

Primary objective is Mid Range Tourque , Secondary is HP ..... Car is AP1

I don't mind loud , but I will drive the car in my neighborhood , So I should be somewhare responsible on noise.

I'm assuming single exhaust .

Help would be appreciated

Trey

Moving to UTH, these items doesn't have anything to do specifically with tracking the car. The info is the same and you'll get better answers there.

WOW , That's a long thread . I got thru 11 pages with the following conclusion :

Intake : ???
Header : J's racing
Exhaust : T1R 70mm ( because I will need to be able to put the cat on for smog and off for track )
ECU : I'm still confused , I do not want to mess with having to tune / dyno / tune / dyno / make a mistake with tune and blow up ...... any thoughts ?
Cooling : Hondata / Mugen cooling mods / Heatshield / Red Line Water Wetter ( This could be very important on a July Texas track day )
Throttle Body : ????

OK , What am I missing ?

If you skip to around page 100, see wildcardtard's experience with ITBs. He has a dyno of what a tuned AEM EMS + ITBs can give you for mid-range (note his top end was limited by oem header/exhaust).

ECU: probably the best is the AEM EMS w/ UEGO wideband inplace of the 2nd O2 sensor. Tune once and good until next major engine mod. Next best is Greddy e-Manage which is followed by the VAFC (NEO, II, I)...for those you will periodically need to reset your ECU to maintain original tune (the oem ECU adapts...reset takes 30sec by pulling a fuse). Any AF controller--stand alone or piggyback--is only as good as the person who tunes it. Post in your local forum and get a recommendation...certainly there must be some excellent tuners in DFW or Houston.

If you go ITB, then no need to worry about an intake...you will either need a custom or let it breath engine bay air. Otherwise, the J's or Mugen is probably the best (there are some cheap Mugen knock-off's on eBay that are probably the best deal) if you don't want to worry with hydo-lock. If driving in rain or through large puddles is something you will never do, then the AEM V2 is best (just note that it's palcement is low and has great potential of sucking water if it is raining).

I'd say AEM EMS, T1R RT70, Tracy Sports Header, J's Racing Intake and Hondata IMG would be the ideal set up for a track used S2000. You're probably looking at about 30-40whp boost with all that and a lose of about 75lbs.

Get an AEM EMS for sure if you have the money. Tuning is the most beneficial thing for a car. I hate it when people bolt on a bunch of crap and never get their cars tuned and wonder why it's not as fast as it should be. If you're that paranoid about tuning with the AEM EMS then find a local tuner shop that has AEM certified techs to dyno tune it for you.

It's a grip of money but worth it.

dont waste the time/money on any kinda of intake, the OEM intake is the best all around combo of mid/peak power. tuning and the exhaust are where your going to make the most power.

i make 227/146 with a KN drop in filter/custom made 70mm headerback exhaust/vafc2 tuned.

the power is unlocked with tuning the conservative factory tune. take a peak at this dyno plot. its wildcartrd's car and mine plotted back to back. hes running EMS/ITBS.
