Carbon Fiber vented hood....
Does anyone know if there are any heat dissipation benefits from a vented hood? I can't justify spending all that $$$ on something that really does nothing (I hear the stock aluminum hood is already pretty light). But definitely would consider buying one if I can get some extra ponies out of it on the hot tracks found out here in CA.

I'm planning on getting a Amuse style vented hood and I've been looking for possible benefits. I found that a hood with a air vent/duct behind the radiator increases the radiator's efficiency.

Temperatures of Intake Air and Cooling Liquid (Coolant)
F20C engine achieving a high level of performance is a very delicate engine. Even a small factor may hinder the real power of 250ps. Following is our advice for the optimum use of the engine

Yes, vented hoods help dissipate hot underhood air. It won't add power, but will help prevent loss of power. The only makes I know of that have vents in their CF hood are: Mugen, Amuse, J's Racing, and Top Secret. Prices range from about $1100-$2800.
The engine itself would accumlate the most heat, im no mechanic, but that makes the most sense to me. I have also heard that in a perfect world for every degree you lower the temperature, you gain one horse power. I think i read that in Sport Compact Car.

It means that if the coolant temps get above 85 the protection program is activated which cuts power. No idea if it's true... S2000 has a 170ish F thermostat (~67.7 C) so maybe.
anyone care to verify a protection program existence or coolant temps which are normal to run?
