In preparation for more boost coming later this year with a sleeved, low compression block, I decided to get ahead of the game and install a capacitive discharge ignition system to deal with the higher boost. Because the stock S2000 coils have built in igniter circuitry, they are not compatable with the AEM unit and I had to find replacements. Browsing the AEM forum, I found that Honda CBR 954 coils would work, but they were a little short. Some modifications were in order. Check our the pictures:
This first picture shows how I overcame the short coils. Used some brass circuit board standoff cut to the right size, and heat shrink tubing. Note that motorcycle coils mount on spark plugs with treaded posts, which the Denzo Iridiums have.
The second photo shows the coils. The coil on the left is stock with the rubber grommet partially removed; the center coil is a CBR 954 with its rubber sleeve removed; and the third coil is what it looks like after installing the stock S2000 coils grommet and the 954 sleeve.

The car idles much better now. Don't know about power yet, need to get on the dyno. The cost of the 4 coils was $65 total on ebay, and they are plentiful. Also got the CBR 954 harness on ebay for $15. The circuit board standoffs cost 40 cents at a surplus electronics store.

How do you like the Aquamist kit? I have heard mixed opinions about their pumps. Water injection is probably one of the best solutions to charge cooling. But so many people fear it like the plague. My last water injection kit was great. I loved it.
Is anything holding down the coils? The stock ones are held down with 10mm bolts. Are you just relying on press fit or perhaps the cover to keep them in place?
