UK or IMPORT!
Why does there always seem to be a negative feeling towards imports! Built in the same factory by the same company! Specs might be slighty different but basically its the same car!
Having owned imported cars i think they are bargains!!
Any views from others out there?

At the risk of sounding dismissive, which is certainly not my intention, this has been discussed on many occasions before now.
Try doing an advanced search, limiting it to the UK forum and searching against import

Never had any hassle with insurance. Always stated it was an import. Insurance premium was the same as a UK car. couple of companies though decline to insurance imports.
On the resale side sold for less than UK car but then cost me less than UK car so the depreciation was the same!

EU imports certainly shouldn't cost any more to insure. From what I've read on here, even JDM imports don't cost all that much more.
I wouldn't be put off importing from the EU (if the exchange rate actually made it worthwhile) but, like Hoggy, I suspect I'd be a bit more wary of a JDM import, if for no other reason than all the added bureaucracy and faff of importing it, the SVA etc etc

We had an import for 5 years , was a bargain at the time , but the extra cost of insurance did eat into that .
Before anyone starts about their ins company , i used to phone everywhere each year .NU Direct stopped insuring imports , but as we were already with them they continued to cover us .
When i needed parts from the main dealer he started to become extremely awkward to the point i nearly dragged him over the counter . This was for a hose and an electric window motor . After a few more strong words he went like a good boy and got the parts .
