Default Are Moonrocks invisible to animals?

In the month or so that i have owned my new car i have so far, by latest reckoning, hit 3 pheasants, 1 rabbit, 1 cat and most recently 1 duck. Luckily i have had no damage from any of these, apart from the fact that i nearly crashed last night when a duck decided to fly right across the path of my car. It bounced off the bonnet, hit the base of the windscreen and managed to continue to fly off the car to one side leaving a massive trail of duck crap all the way up the bonnet and a duck shaped splat on right in the middle of the windscreen. I nearly crashed because i ducked down behind the steering wheel thinking it was coming through the windscreen!

The roof was down, and once i'd cleared the duck and sat back up straight, my first thought was to wash the windscreen and get rid of the duck crap. Of course i didn't think about the fact that all the duck crap and screen wash was then going to get blown up the windscreen and round into the car via the side windows.

So what is it with moonrocks? Are they invisible to animals. I never hit anything in the 2 years that i owned a silverstone, or are moonrocks just too fast for animals to see them?

Nice. In all my years of driving (13 years) I've never hit an animal.

Are you sure it's the colour or the fact that you don't pay attention? Just wondering.

Did you stop and see if the cat was okay?

I have hit a few as well. Depends where you live, out in the country its easy:

- driving some back roads, I got hit by a bird flying into my windcreen (no damage) and then within 10 secs a rabbit ran out and I squished it.

- a swan flew into the side of my Audi S3, I could see it taking off at the side of the road and it came straight across the road into me

- I hit a pheasent driving some back roads to Edinburgh at about 80mph. Luckily I was in a courtesy car as I seriously fecked the grill!

In all my years of driving i have only ever hit one other animal, and that was about 6 years ago, but in the last month its all gone silly. In each case, the animal has run or flown out right in front of me. I've seen it the moment it appeared out of the hedge/verge etc, attempted to brake or swerve to avoid it (this is a new car so i have been driving slowlyish and carefully) but not managed to avoid it. I'm starting to think this car is invisible to animals!

all country roads at the moment. I see loads of pheasants etc but recently they seem to just be kamikazi.

no i didn't stop to see if the cat was ok. I was in the middle of an industrial estate and by the time i had stopped, it had got up and run away in a crooked kind of way so there was nothing i could do unfortunatly.

the duck was a similar scenario as your swan. I saw them by the side of the road, and just before i got level with them they turned around and decided to take off. luckily i had just gone over a highly ridged humpback bridge so was only doing about 20mph.

Down to the colour, it blends with dusk/dawn and tarmac.
I've had similar stuff with company cars that sort of colour.
Humans don't see it either

A bat flew into my windscreen on the A303 a few weeks ago. Scared the poop out of me, but didn't damage the car. No idea what happened to the bat. Probably chased me for revenge

I hit a pigeon a few years back when I had my MGF, nothing new there I hear you say but it was a gorgeous day so roof was down. It was sitting in the middle of the road thinking about nothing and watching me so I aimed at it as they usually move. Well it did but only at the last minute and went staight up. It got as far as the top of my bonnet before I hit it. It then slid up the bonnet, hit the windscreen, bounced over the top and hit me on the head before bouncing into the parcel shelf bit where lowered roof sits, then bounced into path of car behind me. I just saw feathers in my rear view mirror!

Pigeon pie anyone?
