Not just you!!

I got the new alpine in my S a couple of months ago and what a let down, totally not well thought out, hard to see screen with the roof down because of the 'REVOLUTIONARY' white light system!!! And half the time it doesn't recognise my ipod if I leave it plugged in!!!

In my last car I had Three Kenwood tvs over four years and the quality and set up in the first one was excellent, hence buying the new one, which was ok but wasnt fully mechanised and had less features(yet dearer???) and the third one I bought f**cked up so many times I only kept it for three months! There isn't enough going into R+D and there just turning out too many new models to get high sales!! All downhill at the minute

I've heard the sound quality of the Blaupunkt is very so-so, but not heard it myself. I would not criticise an Alpine HU connected up to Oem speakers etc. There is no objective comparison between a different HU in a completely different car with different speakers.

Bit of a stutter there Craig

The modern HU's have far more going on with them - a trizillion buttons and functions. Load more moving parts all in the same space of the old head units. So they are a lot more flimsy. Sound quality is a lot better though!

I'm very happy with my Alpine no issues! Very good sound quality though it is amped, good build quailty because it is not an overly complicated HU.
