Never experienced this but you could try a bigger antenna like off an pilot/MDX or try an after market all metal antenna.

My stock radio on my '04 got great reception; the whole system sucked, and had to be replaced in order to hear it on the highway, but reception was fine.

There is a component which amplifies the signal coming from the antenna going into the HU; if that is not connected, your reception will be horrible, but it it's connected, your reception should be fine.

thanks for the info max & spider. i agree the whole system is not that great. i suspect that there is something wrong with the amplification of the signal.

i just wanted to check with everyone to see if this was a common prob before trying to rip into the problem.

i should replace my stereo with an exhaust =) (saving pennies now)

The antenna is power-amplified. I get great radio reception normally, but one time after some work I was getting terrible reception. So I pulled off the trunk liner and took a look -- the antenna was unplugged. When I plugged it back in, the reception was fine again.

Great advice.

My reception has sucked ever since I got my antenna stolen a couples years ago. I bought a new one and just screwed it back in but since then my reception has always sucked... Maybe I should check this plug thing out.

headrest speakers make all the difference. I can hear my music just fine driving top down on the freeway, and I even have fairly loud exhaust. good luck sourcing your probelm.

Yeah, that "no reception" static really sounds great with headrest speakers....

I have the same problem. Ever since replacing my antenna (OEM Honda) my radio sounds like Ashley Simpsons.
