Default GB: Racelogic traction control

Given our car is a very slippery customer, I had initailly thought about Racelogic traction control, as id seen it put to good use on a number of scoobs. My inital thought on these is that it was all a bit girls blouse, but it could save your ass and improve lap times etc...

Now its become very obvious that strapping a blower on in this climate is going to be really scary - TC might be a must! Even on a standard car it sound quite fun and useful.

The system is reasonably easy to install, and it works by looking at wheel speed, ABS system and takes inputs from all 4 injectors. Any detected slip and the unit takes over and cuts fuel safely, and very quickly. The launch control looks very interesting too,

Take a look at the link and see what you think, esp the bit at the bottom.

Ive emailed them to see what discount they would do as a group buy too.

I think you should Mark, I probably would if I was going SC (assuming you can always turn it off). However I think it's completely unnecessary on a stock S2000.

Sounds impressive.

Your gonna need it as soon as the SC is on and you start sucking up small children with it

But i have to be honest i think std i wouldnt bother as its one thing i like about the car.

i spoke to guy from racelogic a few weeks back up in Buckingham. he said a few of their dealers have fitted these to s`s before. he also said that i could come up for a demo run in his 200sx.

i dont care if people say im a pussy or whatever i dont wanna trash my car! but would it really work if u go into a corner slightly too fast and the rear snaps. would it not be too late then?? i know you can adjust the level of oversteer using the digital adjuster joby but cant help thinking that it will be a bit too slow to react.also if it cuts the ignition or whatever to limit the power it aint gonna help if you wanna control the slide and power through it!i could be wrong.

Another arguement for the AEM, traction control can be built into it.

Thats my issue with the AEM, I simply dont trust ANYONE to map an S2000. There's a guru in the Subaru mapping scene who mapped my last STi and covers GEMS and Motec so have enquired with him as to whether he fancies a challenge!

Vortech black box for now!

Simon - any luck with your AEM warranty? How does the AEM TC work?

Tebs, given the reviews it does seem to work. Clearly if you go into a bend too quick, it canny change the laws of physics! If you go in gentle and then push hard, it seems to work very well! Similar to the Skyline method of TC (only that can load / unload individual wheels)

The response time is very quick on these things.

Gems will sort the AEM out for me, S2000 is due 81k service soon, Honda will look at Immobilser / Alarm possible problem before the AEM is sent off.

AFAIK the AEM works from the ABS ring sensors and will simply limit power when the wheels are spinning, the basics of TCS when you can't control the power to individual wheels. Not sure if you can work the LSD into the equasion, I was just going to look at using TCS in the S2000 for launch control.

As far as a trustworthy tuner I would trust Mase www.masetuning.com

I'd probably find it more use on the Prelude TBH - All that torque & FWD is no use for swift starts on greasy roads.

An S2K with a blower, it's probably a must.

Stock has such a sweet delivery, little slides are part of the fun.
