Default Cylinder Head, What should I do

Ok so I have an 02 S2K and am loosing a compression out of my intake valves. I stumbled across a used head on E-Bay and got it cheap. So now I have the extra and would like to do some work to it. The only thing is that Im not sure where to start. Everything that I have read so far says to just leave it stock if you dont want to run an EMS. I dont plan on turboing any time soon so keep those suggestions out. Give me some feedback on what is the best things I can do.

Thanks

Ok so I just read a thing about the AEM Fule/Ignition Controler. Would this be a good idea if I went with doing some type of Cam upgrade, or would I even have to do it ?

Its weird that you aren't getting any help. I would look at a Ti retainer/keeper set at the least, and coating the combustion chamber and valves (exhaust). The stock head flows great and I haven't really heard of significant gains from porting/polishing for NA.

Good luck.

be careful with Ti retainers if you are DD you car... they do not have the service life of Honda OEM ones. People have found gains with head work, try going on the N/A forum for head work regarding that avenue, and the F/I forum if you might be turboing in the future.

Well since valves by design are meant to seal, I bet they are bent.

I would just rebuild that head with all OEM parts and get it installed.

Of the cams on the market, they yeild next to nothing (or less). Ti retainers is a bad idea unless you plan on changing them often. With the amount of miles you can put on a car here in Houston (yes, I am local) that would be less than once a year for head work. So go the OEM route and save your money for turbo tuning when the time comes. That will cost as much as the torbo kit does to get it done right.

Been there, done that.

So since you are local, there is a large group of S2k owners (25 or so) heading out to the track (Texas World Speedway) in Nov. You might want to join us for the day to hang out.

sweet strat sounds like a plan what dates were u thinking ? So no one likes the ideas of doing cams and the vafc. Something i just thought of that i forgot to put in the other one was the use of oversized valves.

I dont want to do turbo on a DD.

There is a The Driver's Edge" (www.thedriversedge.net) event scheduled on Nov 10-11. It is already ull for the lower run groups so you getting in. But with 25 of other S2000 on the track, I am sure we can get you a ride on the track with an instructor. Once you see what the car can do stock, you may rethink where to put your cash. I know I did.

Learning to be a better driver is worth far more in the long run. That comming from a guy that had a turbo, now stock S2000 daily driver and another S2000 being built for track only duty.
