Default Back - & Update

Hi All,

Been traveling & am now back.

Took the S to Napelton today to check out the "SRS" seat belt restraining system warning light - the air bag system.

Well, after parking the car for about 2 1/2 weeks over the Christmas Holidays, I started the car (barely) and saw the SRS warning light. Since then, I got a new battery.

It turns out that the SRS warning light is tripped by a low voltage situation.

I guess that was a waste of $. Anyway, I feel better about the air bag light - and got the emissions & safety check done for the so I can get the car re-registered with the state...

new battery $100 (needed anyway)
check-up at your local Honda dealer $150
peace of mind re: your car's safety system(s) $priceless

Well - now that you ask - I did some research before the purchase.

Theer are a lot of web sites offering information out there. I found these batteries as "top choices":

Autozone
Duralast Gold: 500 CCA, 625 CA, ~80 min RC
Duralast Red: 425 CCA, 530 CA, 70 min RC

Sears
DieHard Gold: CCA 495, 80 min RC

Optima
yellow top: CCA 500, reserve 66 min

I got the Duralast Gold, which looks good like the Optima - but has a slightly longer reserve capacity. Say good bye to "I killed the battery by playing the stereo to long" while washing the car.

Now I just need to get a good stereo system...

I thought you had the Amuse to keep you amused in the sound dept. & since it's a dual system, it's stereo

Wow... wouldn't have thought of that.

I was actually surprised how affordable an OEM Honda battery was. Did you price one out before buying aftermarket?

Ashley the OEM Honda battery is not a POS - it's more than likely you still have the original battery in your car from 2002, same as Ron (rehile) did ... ~5 yrs is pretty damn good for a battery, but it does sound like you need a new one.
