Default Wiring an Alpine head unit to the Dash mounted remote controls

Hi

I am in the process of importing an S from Japan, will need to fit a new Alpine head unit. Apparently I will need a connector to wire the remote output to the dash controls? Does anyone know where to source such a part? and if so how much does it cost?

Have to say this site is proving to be a bit of a bible! Can't wait to get my hands on the Car!

Any replies much appreciated

regards

Alistair

You need an Alpine KCE-865B. I purchased mine from Halfords as a special order and it cost about

I needed a little ISO adaptor for the aeriel as well. Trivial thing for the ICE gurus, but a pain to pop out and get one when the car looks like someone's just kicnked the stereo!

My Alpine head unit and dash lead came Friday after waiting 3 weeks from MCS-Direct. My local car audio dealer fitted it yesterday. Very pleased, but the Mute button on the dash doesn't work!
Anyone else had any slight incompatability problems?

There's a lead on the KCE-865B you have to hookup for mute to work - mine works perfectly. Sounds like they didn't connect it.

Yep, Brian (as ever) is spot on - the mute cable is labelled "interrupt" rather than "mute", which made me hesitate when I fitted mine - the colour coding shold have given the game away to your stereo fitter though.

Like all retailers if its in stock it will ship fast, recently I ordered the Alpine adapter and a MP3 CD Changer from MCS, it arrived 26 hours after I phoned them so I have no complaints with MCS. I didn`t connect up the 2 flying leads on my KCE adapter initially but both do need to be connected to the harness for the remote controls to work, be prepared for cuts on your hands as its a very tight space to work in, in the end I used the large cardboard box from MCS in the passenger footwell as a means of supporting the Head Unit whist feeding all the wiring into the dash area. It will all fit in but only just !
