If their SAE 50 grade is gear oil viscosity, then it will be too thin. If it is engine oil viscosity, then it will be too thick. I wouldn't try it in the S2000.
Why not use Honda MTF? It's good stuff and cheap.

If your MY05 really shifts that bad I would look into properly bleeding the clutch hydraulics, greasing the fork & push rod and checking the free play of the linkage.
Also, it could be the clutch disk is - after 5 years of collecting clutch dust and some rust (yes it does happen) - not able to slide over the splines that well anymore, creating crunchy shifts.
Not much to do about that with the trans installed though
