My youngest brother has a stock 91 miata, and he thinks that he would beat me in the 1/4 mile if I didn't vtec. That left me wondering...just how fast is the S in the 1/4 mile shifting @ 6000rpm's. Well, I tried it, and here is the timeslip breakdown!!!

I still think he would beat most of the ricer's that I see at the track! Most of them slap on the loudest, crappiest muffler and a million stickers. With all of this they talk alot of smack about how fast they think they are. The reality is that they put up 1/4 mile times of high 17's and 18's. When I race them in my very quiet s2000 , I am fast and they are furious!

 

This thread is great. I have always wondered how an S would do without VTEC... Funny shit.

Cut ANY car's shift point by 1/3 and see how well it fares. I bet the miata would run 19's in that same scenario.

it would be nice to try it with a VAFC and move the vtec engagement up and see what happens.
