Default Feb/Mar meet

talked with s2kla. next couple of weeks are going to be busy. when do we want to meet next?

Baton Rouge would be my next choice of location, keeping things fair. I am busy feb 14th, band gig, which would prevent my atttendance that friday. also we have just about confirmed march 9th with CG. in pensacola for autocross/instruction.

I move to have the next meet be 3/9 (a sunday) in pensacola for the weekend.

I'm in! Why don't y'all plan on coming over Sat. afternoon and getting a couple of rooms at the beach? We could get some good eats in P'cola and be all gassed up for Sunday morning.

Might need for one of you guys to bring me a few pounds of fresh cooked mudbugs so I can eat myself silly. On second thought if I could eat myself I wouldn't be silly enough to do it and I sure as hell wouldn't admit it.

March in Pensacola is fine with me for the next meet. CG, is there anything we need to do special to get our car prepared? Do you recommend changing brake fluid. I currently have ATE Super Blue sitting on the shelf waiting for installation.

I don't know about you guys but I probably will be going up early on a Saturday to get some beach time. CG, any place recommended places to stay??

Yeah I will be going up early Saturday also.... Well it looks like I will be taking the first to spin honor. I will only have Kumho Ecsta 712's on my car. I won't be able to put S02's on before March 9th. I guess all I can do is just try to keep them inflated!

Phil I plan on just bleeding or maybe flushing my brakes after I get my tires replaced and a 4 wheel alignment done. I might buy some new pads.

CG can you post a good daily driver/autox alignment?

I am going stock, unless CG tells me I am a greater fool than previously posted.

brian, maybe we should look into a semi-group brake pad and helmet buy. we could get them shipped to a single location a save on shipping. who's interested?

I'm up for a meet anytime or anywhere. I live in Baton Rouge, but my folks live in New Orleans, so I'm pretty familar with the area, especially the lake front, which would be a great place to meet. I've tried to host meets here in Baton Rouge without much luck.

I'm a member of other car clubs and we autocross in the CENLA division. This usually results in Lamar-Dixon expo center, or No Problem Raceway in Donaldsonville(great track). I know the group has been to Zephur in Nawlins too. Next race is sunday feb 23rd at Lamar-Dixon. Anyone is welcome of course.

not too many details available, just show up, pay, and race.

try their site if you're interested: www.cenla-scca.org
it has directions to lamar-dixon, along with times etc. Not sure if I'm going yet, it depends on the weather, so in Louisiana, I guess I won't know until the day before.

Eddie,

What time do the autocrosses start. I too am in Red Stick and I am very interested in getting started. Do they do any kind of tech inspection on your car?

I always like a very aggressive alignment on my cars and it kills tires. In fact at times I've killed street tires in as little as 800 miles and one set on my Miata lasted about 125 miles of track use from new.

I did some searching to see what others were doing for a street/track alignment and found one that matched what I was thinking would be a good one. At least the camber and front toe matched and since I didn't have a clue what caster to recommend I went with pfb's suggestion in that regard.

Here is what he suggested for a combo and I like it also:

For below, *=degree symbol, '=minutes, "=inches

Front Camber: L=-1.0* R=-1.0*
Front Toe In: 0.00"
Front Caster: L=5.8* R=5.7*

Rear Camber: L=-2.0* R=-2.0*
Rear Toe-in: 0.25"

Check out this thread: https://www.s2ki.com/forums/showthread.php?...light=alignment

That is the minimum camber I would run but for a dual use car I wouldn't go over about 1.2 front and 2.2 rear. Even with this I would suggest rotating the tires about every 3000 miles or so. Yes that means taking them off the wheels and moving them to the other side.

genghiskwong, nothing wrong with leaving it stock. The tires will last longer on the street but the handling won't be as good as some others who do it. The tires will also wear faster on the track with a "stock" alignment.
