Track option per Kathys suggestion: if you do not wish to track your car maybe you just want to go and watch...... Kathy or Josh I am not sure of the distance from the track you mentioned to Vegas???? So maybe you two could give more info reguarding that and $$$$$Cost info......

Pahrump is 60mi west of vegas, we can check up on their schedule to see who's going to be running there.

 

Pahrump is VERY commutable from Vegas.

For those flying, I suggest Southwest or America West, as they usually have the best deals. Hit their websites ASAP to secure your best deal.

If we do it Sunday through Thurday, hotels will be at their cheapest. July is the height of the tourist season, so rooms will still be limited. I suggest near-strip hotels rather than on the strip. I personally wouldn't want my 'S' in valet OR a hotel garage.
The Station Casinos (Boulder, Sunset, and Palace) are good places to start, and not too terribly far from the strip. Stay away from downtown (Fremont Street) to avoid any unpleasantries with the native folks.

I highly recommend avoiding hot spots like the Hard Rock Hotel, anything in Mandalay Bay, and the MGM Grand if you would like to stay clear of the crowd scene.


*Final note for now...
I drove a tow truck for a while in Vegas...WATCH WHERE YOU PARK!!! If you see anything that even RESEMBLES a 'NO PARKING' sign... keep moving. It's not worth it. You WILL be impounded, you WILL have to pay cash to get your car back, it WILL be well over $100 even if you pick it up an hour later and they WILL damage a car like an 'S' and claim it was already damaged... and sadly there's little you can do about it.


*Oh yeah, Pahrump is also the closest town where prostitution is still legal... just in case anyone needed to know...
