Default Kenwood under the seat Subwoofer???

Has anyone seen or tried this Kenwood subwoofer system under the driver or passenger seat?
Does it fit? If it does, how does it sound?

Judging by how our seats sit, I don't think there would be enough clearance.

At 4-3/8 inches high, it will not fit under the seats. It would probably fit on top of or beside the spare tire though...

I'd like to launch a philosophical protest against a 5 1/4" active driver being termed a "subwoofer"

I've heard high-end subs that sound awesome using only 6 1/2" speakers. If the enclosure is designed properly the size of the speaker driver is not as important.

I remember people thinking the same way about 4 cylinder engines being considered for performance cars.

I want something simple and was considering a base tube for the trunk or something like that. I don't really want to spend a lot of money putting in an amp and the woofer so I figured an all in one might be ok, but from the sounds of it I may have to. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I would also like to keep the stock head unit if at all possible, looking to spend up to 500 on this.

Any advice would really be appreciated.

Thanks
