Well, actually I plan to continue using a torque wrench to tighten the oil filter.

Look how you can reach the fumoto drain valve from above the car!

I am an Engineer and have thought through issues of beam vibration and galvanic corrosion, I do not feel these two concerns are significant. Mostly because of the reinforcement of the oil drain area, the gasket material used as a washer, the and the oil content excluding galvanic corrosion.

You'll see mine does not have the nipple. I prefer it this way. Plus without the nipple you can tighten the bolt with a 7mm hex key bit.

P.S. The adapter needs a 23mm box-end wrench, and the body can be turned with a 19mm open-end wrench, I found I could not get the 19mm on at a certain angle and had to put the 7mm key in the drain hole.

My valve lever ended up on the bottom of the valve, but I don't have any issues with oil dripping on it since I also bought one with the nipple. I would have to look up the old post to see when I originally put mine on, but i'm thinking it's been about a year now...no oil leaks so far, and I've been through a number of oil changes.

Oh, and the washer appears to be a stamped donut of genuine composite gasket material, not rubber or plastic or metal. Very nice.

MacGyver, did you ever try tightening the valve again some time after installation? Did it turn at all?

I snugged it up pretty well on the first install (actually the second since I snapped the adaptor threads off in my oil pan on the first attempt...damn, but brass is soft). I check it for hand tightness whenever I change the oil, and between that and seeing no leaks, I'm satisfied.

I have this setup and I love it! no problems so far! I opted no nipple as well - you can't beat a 10 minute oil change for just the price of oil and a filter!!!!

Don't try to torque to the full spec for the stock bolt which uses a crush washer. I only went to what felt like 3/4 that much, the 1/4 turn they recommend to tighten.
