Default Retracted Soft Top Alignment Photos

Again, this has been touched on before, but I've been having a few "ups and downs" with the soft top and have only just started realising how low it really can drop to.

So, for those who are buying now, or have started to lower your tops, please note that in cooler weather in particular, the soft top may not lower properly first time. Here, with the aid of a jar of Arran Mustard (you can use any flavour, but this one works best) is photo 1, of an incorrectly lowered top. Note the location of the hood rim against a near horizontal jar of mustard.

And now, the CORRECT position of the top, showing the mustard at a much greater incline and a very much flatter roof.

HTH anyone new to soft top retraction.

If mustard is unavailable in your area call 1-800-MUSTARD and a designated coordinator will be able to advise you.
This thread has serious intent and was therefore deemed relevant and \"On topic\". Which is very unusual for me!

No, it just slots into its correct position occasionally. I wouldn't want to force it by hand and I don't really think it's always down to weather. I get the feeling that the vinyl simply doesn't fold in correctly sometimes.

Why that jar of mustard? What if members can't get hold of that particular jar?

I wonder if the airflow settles it when you drive along at speed?

I doubt it very much.

I have read it in the manual that it is quite safe to push down the roof if it doen't lower properly.

I noticed there's even a little handle on the roof bar - I guess they thought of that.
Unless you're supposed to use the handle if the motor packs up ?

That's most likely. I have asked myself why there is a handle there and noticed that such antiquated devices are still available on non-electric-roofed cars, like a certain Mazda.
