Technically they're required by law, but many people here (myself included) drive around without them.

I've never personally known anyone who's had problems, but when I went to the Honda dealer to order the cover-ups for the mounting holes, they told me that they didn't stock them because too many of their customers had gotten in trouble.

Your mileage may vary, I suppose...

It is illegal to not have a plate. It is just another excuse to get pulled over.

I know, but it looks so good without one.

Never had one on my S2000. I got one infraction added to a parking ticket. The three times I've been stopped for speeding, they didn't say anything about it (got off with a warning two of those times).

But your mileage will vary, depending on where and how you drive, etc.

Well, I think I'll start tomorrow. I still have a temp in the window and my personalized plates will be here in a month. I'll try it out.

Start going without a front plate? Cool! Be sure you have the matching color plugs for the bumber holes.

I just called downtown Honda and ordered the plugs. Yeah! Still gonna take the plate off today, then I NEED to get out for a drive and try it out.

I have said this before, and I will say it again. The S does look better without a front license plate. BUT, it is illegal. If having a plate up there really bothers you, get a personalized plate like I did, so you are happy having a front plate.

Case in example, you go to Taco's on Tuesday and have two beers and hang out and have fun. Chances are you are perfectly OK to drive really. You pull out, and a cop with an itch pulls you over for not having a front license plate (the only excuse). He is being a dick, and questions everything and you could end up in deep dookey having not done anything wrong for the slightest bit of cool factor which to me, is not worth it.

My point is, not having a plate is "cool" but uncool at the same time. I have been pulled over so many times for little things like mudflaps on a Jeep, to tinted license plates. The police only need one excuse to pull you over, why give it to them?
