NOTE: BEFORE PROCEEDING WITH THIS POST, PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING DISCLAIMER!!!

This post deals with the highly controversial topic of "POWER EARTHING CABLES". I am well aware that there is no solid scientific evidence as to their effectiveness. Any comments made here are strictly SUBJECTIVE... so please be kind... I am fully prepared for the consequences of my actions. Now... FLAME AWAY!!!

I recently had the T1R Power Earthing System installed on my car. Now, please keep in mind that my car has quite a few engine modifications. Everybody has a different setup... and I'm sure everybody is happy with what they installed on their individual cars. As for me, I have never dynoed my S... but I know my engine is making good power because it feels considerably stronger than stock (and I'm sure there are several S2Ki board members who will vouch for this! ). However, I did notice that the idle was never quite as smooth as when it was stock. After installing the T1R Power Earthing System, I immediately noticed that my idle was much smoother... and that throttle response (especially low end) seemed to be improved. Actually, it seemed much smoother through the entire powerband.

Now, to be honest, I tend to be a skeptic unless I see some hard evidence. Heck, even dyno plots (some of the best so-called "hard evidence" for the power gains attributed to any mod) sometimes fail to convince me. Hence, I will not get into an arguement about what the grounding cables DO or DO NOT do. Instead, I will just give you my subjective opinion... after all, everybody is entitled to speak their mind once in a while. I don't post very often... for the simple reason that nobody likes to get flamed... but hey, what's life without a little excitement once in a while?

Does it give you more HP? Dunno... didn't dyno it.
Does it give you more TORQUE? Well... it FEELS like it does... pulls harder down low... and smoother throughout. But once again... didn't dyno it.
Am I happy with the results? YES. It just drives better... period. Won't argue with anybody here, cuz it's MY car... and I definitely notice the difference! That's all that matters, right?

So... respond as you see fit. I would recommend trying it... it's a fairly inexpensive mod. Many of the big Japanese tuners do it (just pick up any Japanese tuner magazine... OPTION, Young Version, Car Boy, Hyper Rev...) so they can't ALL be crazy. I would probably recommend it more to people with mods to their engine (intake, throttle body, header, exhaust, ECU... or any combination thereof)... it really smooths things out. Probably less noticable on a bone-stock S...

Anyways... I welcome the comments... it's just nice to be back posting again!

If you could post a little as to what this mod actually is that would be great. From the pic it looks to be just the wires that go to the battery. Also how much does this mod cost?

Oh, but I do have to say one extra thing since it's not in my previous writeup. You reset the ECU by adding in this mod, so it doesn't surprise me in the least you saw a difference in how the engine reacted as soon as you cranked it back up. Any actual performance gain could most likely be attributed to cleaning of the stock grounding points.

I've been perusing the RX7Club.com board lately, and this is actually a VERY popular mod with them. Not this set of grounds in particular, but better ground wires in general. And they all seem to like it, and it makes sense. Improving flow of the current can't be bad. This is seen on car audio systems as well.

I was reading a post in rsxclub.com of a guy who dynoed and made good power with these. It's proven that it makes power...

I have installed the Earth (ground) kit to my car and I can feel noticeable acceleration and mid-range power After driving test, I reset the ECU and it there were no difference by reseting the ECU. I am sure this kit made a difference. I have the 6pt grounding kit and here's the pic that I have off my engine bay.

Resetting the ECU won't make much of a difference if it was already reset during the install of the ground kit.
