Extended Warranty? How can I lose?
My warranty is up real soon
I've been thinking about getting an extended warranty.
I know I'm keeping my car for a long time.
Any advice you can offer me? How much? can you make deals on stuff such as this?
Getting it thru Honda the best way to go?
other stuff I don't know the questions to?
Thanks guys
Mike

Good question as I'm facing the same thing.
I'm going to be calling Honda Canada as I really haven't trusted many dealerships with their song and dance speeches..
The Milner location number I was given was 1-888-946-6329.
Unless someone else knows better ?
I'll give them a call tomorrow if I can, and let you what they tell me Mike

wow ! I"m gonna need my pills after answering this one for sure .. here we go..
My 93 turbo would be faster out of the blocks as there is more low end torque and a very short clutch release, (at least on mine). But I don't drag race my s2000, so gunning it from light to light is useless in my point of view and does not represent performance of an s2000 whatsover. I've come to learn VTEC with a "rolling start" as opposed to the whole "launching bit" shows a lot more of an s2000's performance. Also, I think there is a different mentality one comes to associated with both cars. Honda's VTEC is completely different to Toyota's MR2 Turbo engineering.
Over a long run up the gears say 3 to 6th to approaching top end power, I think our s2000 would win convincingly over the mr2. However it would be close depending on what kind of turbo the mr2 had and if there was any turbo and intake work done. That is really the heart of the mr2, the performance is built around it's turbo which I disliked. I found MR2 engines with their turbos were more finnicky to tune after periods of "hard revs" or "hard driving" whereas with my s2000, the damn thing lives to REV.
I found my back end more loose on the mr2 than the s2000 especially in wet conditions.
I don't know if I've successfully answered your question, but that's just my view of it.. and my flame suit is on for those .. well you know

Hey Mike, I know things are different up in Canada, but for what it is worth this is what I know in the states....
You can clearly get an extended warranty from your Honda dealer of choice. You will find they are like anything else for sale, there is a lot of disparity in price and you really can shop around for the best deal.
Really look at your expected mileage versus the number of years the coverage will spread out over - buy the best plan, don't over buy! EXAMPLE: here the original warranty is 3 year OR 36,000 miles - which ever comes first. Say for example you had 20,000 miles at the end of your 3 years so you are doing about 10,000 per year. At that rate it would be potentially foolish to buy a 100,000 mile OR 7 year warranty when you may only have 70,000 miles in 7 years. Here in the states there are a bunch of different miles versus years and you should pick the one that is closest to how much YOU drive the car.
I too plan to do this at about the 3 year period. I know I could have saved money if I did it at purchase time, but I decided to wait. No sense of plunking down $1,000 if I'm going to total the car on the track before the original warranty is up.

I think your best bet is to go in with numbers...everyone who has a '00 and considering buying the extended warranty should do it at the same time. I am sure I can get you a good deal from my dealer. Let me know.
