First thing is to do a background check to see if the guy actually exists (ie social security what not), birth records...
If he traveled in time, we should track down his money, to see if they were inked now or from the future. If he traveled here, he wouldn't have any funds here, it would have to be brought from the future.

Big flaw here, not that I believe his crap anyway. If you were going to do this crap, then just come in at the beginning or middle of the Tech boom, make gajillions of dollars like everyone was doing, but unlike everyone else, just sell before the crash. It'd be less obvious and more lucrative.
