Guess where I've been since 5:45 this morning: the emergency room.
I should have stayed in bed todey, damnit to hell! 4:45 AM I'm driving eastbound on the 210 Frwy, around the La Canada-Pasadena boundary, minding my own business, on my way to the gym. Some jerkoff in a big, black Mercedes sedan comes flying up out of nowhere, swerves into my lane, and takes out the entire left side of my car, moving it over an entire lane. The impact was incredibly loud and violent. I saw my rear view mirror shoot straight up in the air like a rocket. Then the guy takes off, really punches it. I chase him down and force him off the road and into the bushes. I figure the son of a bitch has already taken out my left side, what difference does it make of he takes out my right side too. My door won't open, so I go out the window. I'm so pissed, I'm shaking like a leaf. I approach his car and God knows what I would have done when a Highway Patrol cruiser pulls up. The cop orders me to halt and put my hands in the air over his loudspeaker.
The other guy gets out of his car and says he didn't know anything happened -- his stereo was on loud. How can you get in a high speed accident and not know anything happened? The guy reeks of alcohol, his eyes are glassy, and he's unsteady on his feet. He's an emergency room physician and knows the cop from the emergency room. They call each other by first name. The cop tells me "If he didn't know he hit you, it's not felony hit-and-run." I ask the cop if he's going to administer a field sobriety test and he replies "No, in my judgment, he hasn't been drinking. Who's the police officer here, you or me?" Then the cop takes me aside and tells me to settle down or I'll be in trouble.
Another Highway Patrol cruiser pulls up, a sargeant. The first cop talks to him. I tell the sargeant I think the guy's been drinking and he points to the first cop and says "Tell it to that officer, he's writing the accident report, you have nothing to say to me." Then he takes off. By now my neck, lower back, and left arm and leg hurt -- a lot. I tell the cop this and he says "What are you trying to pull here?" The cop finishes the accident report and leaves. I drive myself to the emergency room at Huntington Memorial -- the same
ing emergency room where this
ing asshole works, treating accident victims like me. They Take xrays and can't find anything wrong.
I've been to the body shop, Markham and Boling: $9,700. I've spoken to my attorney. He'll get the accident report. For all I know, that
ing asshole cop will put me in the blame. I'm seeing my chiropractor at 10:15. I hurt like hell all over and I'm so
ing upset I can't work.
