To do some final testing of the new 4.44 gear set, I took my car out for some hard and fast driving on Falls Road today, a beautiful road with many high speed curves we have used for our local meets and Fall Colors 2001.

Having driven this road many times with the stock rear gears, the 4.44 makes the car feel like its on steroids. When you get on the throttle coming out of a turn, there's a noticeable extra kick of power, and since all shifts occur at slightly lower speeds, on a road like this you're always closer to VTEC and in VTEC more often. If you select a gear that's too high for the turn, you'll have more kick anyway.

Driving the car with this gear set is even more fun. IMHO it emphasizes all the qualities of the car I love best.

Rob

Every order for these will be direct shipped from Japan to your door step. We have no plans to stock them in the US. Our contact in Japan is stocking them for direct shipment.

I hope that helps anwser your question.

Rick,

Have you spent any time on the freeway with the new gears? I know you also corrected your speedometer as well. Stock, my car is at 74 mph at exactly 4000 rpms. Do you know how much higher the revs are at approximately the same speed. I spend quite a bit of time on the freeway in my car and I am always finding myself reaching for "7th gear". This sounds like a killer mod but I would just worry about highway cruising.

So if the 4.44s are like an s2000 on steroids, then the 4.77s are like super steroids???? I really don't understand why more people don't talk about the 4.77s, they are even more aggressive.

Yes they are more aggressive. I think that's why people prefer the 4.44s for street and track. If your S is for track only then go with 4.77s. 4.77 is not ideal for the daily driver like myself. The info I've gathered from the searches, the 4.44s serve as a nice balance of kick and street driveability.

Looking to make the 4.44 mod this summer!
