Default Airbox Off - Trying to find a solution

Thought I would run this past you guys in case anyone had any bright ideas. I have been talking to a couple of carbon fibre moulders over the past few days about the possibility or them making a thin carbon fibre airbox lid. The benefits of this would hopefully be retained performance along with increased noise output (i.e. not as insulated as the current airbox lid)

I have sent images and dimensions of the current lid to one of the moulders. They have estimated the cost of the tool alone at

Yep I know, I was hoping they would have a tool they could modify but no such luck. Have given up on the idea, just thought it might inspire someone else to think of a solution

I don't know a lot about it, but I thought that you could lay up carbon fibre just like fibreglass. If that's the case and you only want a one off, you don't need a

welshrich is right, you should be able to take a fibreglass mould off the airbox, then use that for the carbon fibre mould. I've been looking into making some carbon bits for the 348, and soken to a place that will supply 1m sq of carbon fabric and all the resins etc for

I thought carbon fibre had a very complicated setting process and it has to be heated several times under high pressure in a special oven?
