They're lying to you, Yidal -- get 'em while you can sucker, before they're all gone, and by the way, pay us $_______________ [describe amount of criminal gouging mark-up] so you won't get left out of the party.

He doesn't know that, but nether do we. There are rumors it will end, rumors it will continue. You guess.

I agree that no one (actually very few, and they probably work for Honda) knows for sure, but I also know that dealers are giving you this line to pressure you into buying now. It is the same line I got a year ago, that 2000 model year was going to be the only year (I took it as total BS, and didn't take the comment into account). He also added that that's why they called it the S-"2000". We also know that it won't be around for ever, and it sounds like the lines aren't getting any shorter.

The number one buying motive - Avoidance of a Loss. "If you don't get it now, you lose the opportunity." Car dealers play it like a fiddle each and every day. Wouldn't it be great if Honda were to insist on integrity at their dealers?

I have to laugh at some of these posts.

Does anyone really think Honda would tool up, throw millions into R & D, build one of the most critically acclaimed new cars in years, and then stop production after 2 or 3 years and only 30 or 40 thousand units? Get real.

I particularly like the reasoning that Honda is only making the car to improve their image (it's an "image car" for the company). Anyone had their dealer tell them that? How about the one that they only built the car so they could take the technology and use it in the next generation Prelude? Heard that one? Same dealer, or a different one?

Yeah, right.

Honda, which it always has done (and any good company should do) looked at the market, and identified that they could build a high performance roadster to rival BMW, Mercedes and Porsche and have it fill the niche between the Miata/MR2 and the $45,000+ roadster offerings.

Once again, Honda hits the cover off the ball.

Remember the Miata, folks? How hard it was to get one when they first came out? How they sold for thousands over sticker?

I think we can rest assured that the S2000 isn't going anywhere anytime soon.

Jason

I don't think that the run will last any more than 4-5 years, at the most. With the new NSX coming out in the near future, the Tochigi plant won't have enough capacity to keep churning these out. Guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens.

Honda spent money on R&D that will be applied over many models.. costs and benefits will be spread over more than this model. Yes they could stop production.

This is no Miata.. if it was it would have been tooled up in a plant to build ten times as many. It is built in a plant designed for low volume experiments.

Honda does not need another profile car, it has the NSX.
