I ran into a bit of a problem. I have an 02 sebring and I have been noticing my steering wheel has these little lines of cracing. I first thought that I some how scraped it with a sharpe object, then I realized more started showing up. The cracks look as if you took your finger nail and scratched it. It started with just one but now there are link six or seven. Has anyone else seen this? I dont have pics yet but I will get some soon.

 

Am I the only one encountering this?

 

havent had any problems w/ my steering wheel and my s2k is a 00

 

This is so odd, I don't know what is up do you think it could be the 303 protectant that I use? It has got so bad, I am going to call my Honda service and see what they say.

 

I can't imagine 303 hurting the steering wheel material, however, I don't treat the steering wheel anymore as it makes the wheel very slippery to hold.
ps. Mine is also an '00 - no problems with the wheel.

 

just wipe your steering with dam towel no need to put anything else.

 

If your car is '02 then still under warranty? Take it back to dealership and let them swap it out. I can't talk for Honda but when I had BMW, they even replace wear and tear items.

 

i'm experiencing the same thing!!!!! can't figure out what caused it. i almost thought it was some wild sex action going on then i remembered theres no room

 

It's caused by your coat zipper rubbing between the wheel and your leg when you enter/exit. At least that's what caused mine.

 

I always thought that the natural oils in your hand kept the frequently used parts, like the steering wheel, moist and gave it a certain patina. I thought that was enough to protect the steering wheel (and leather trimmed or wooden gear shift knobs).
