4.10 vs. 4.44 gtech 0 to 60 times, results!
Ok I finally got my 4.44 ring and pinion installed the other day.
I had a chance to do some runs with my Gtech competition before and after the install and here are the results.
ohhh.....but first let me list my mods. I have vafc stock fuel settings and vtec engagement set at 5600 rpm for the runs -2 correction, sheep dog dual exhaust, aem cai, .41 gapped plugs, bored out cat converter, and I've had the ecu fuse out for a long time....6 months. Tire pressure is 34 psi cold I have Nitrous 75 shot but was not used on these runs. Spoon thermo and switch and rad cap, top was up . car has about 17,000 miles on the odo. voodoo knob
2002 s2000
Ok 4.10 gears:
no launch 0 to 60 mph: 6.1, 5.9, 6.0, 6.0, 5.9,(6.2- Failed launch heavy bog) 6.3 crappy shift to seconds
4.10 gears with a launch 6000 rpm : 5.48, 5.45, 5.51
4.10 gears with a launch 6000 rpm and vtec engaement set to 5100 rpm correction at -12 stock fuel settings: 5.38, 5.4
4.44 gears no launch: 5.41, 5.48, 5.39
4.44 gears with a launch: None still want to break them in.
My tires in the rear are getting a little bald. So on the launches I
spin a little to much and my rear goes to the side a little.
a few month ago when my tires had more meat I was able to achieve a 5.2 with the 4.10 and an incredible launch 6000 rpm and lowered tire pressure 28 psi cold.
The temp for all runs was high 40's to low 50's F.
I would do 1/4 mile runs but It is hard in my area to find a straight level road that is that long.
all these runs where done on the same road. same direction.
So basically it cut .5 seconds off my no launch times which is very good IMHO.
With the 4.44 gears I am able to get well into third gear on this straight away where with the 4.10 gears i had to shut it down at second gear redline. I also pulled a 9.3 1/8mile at 68.5 on this straight away with letting off the gas at 8.01 seconds at 76 mph and coasting (no brake) the rest of the 1/8 mile way. 76 mph at 8 seconds is blazing fast for the s2000. I had to let off the gas because i was running out of space.
No Nitrous was used on any of these runs. When i Get new rear tires I will try some Nitrous runs.
The 4.44 provide more grunt and more neck snap. Highly recommend!
Oh by the way my 0 to 60 feet times with the 4.44 and no launch where about 2.3 to 2.4. No launch 0 to 60 ft. times with the 4.10 where 2.5 to 2.7
GOOD STUFF! Props to Bruce my installer and bullet proof automotive for good Customer service!

so did u use 3rd gear with 4.44 when u were taking the 0-60?
as ya want and it gives you times and distance measurements for what you did. So I went to the mid 70's in third gear but i hit
60mph at the very top of second gear. I actually think the 4.44's will get you to just over 60 mph maybe the extra 1 or 2 miles per hour was just momentum.

That was a very useful experiment and pretty much confirms what I've been trying to get across to people since I've had mine in.
This is simply a great "power" mod that doesn't actually give any extra power and next to no "down side".
