UK Forum - User Guide & FAQ

at www.s2ki.com/forums you will find multiple forums, with users from all over the world. Some of the specialist forums have some very useful information, for example there is a dedicated Electronics Forum, Under The Hood, dealing with technical issues, and a Wash and Wax forum.
To visit the page showing all the forums go to www.s2ki.com/forums or click the Forums button at the top of the page.
MyS2K
MyS2K is your control centre, in here you can change the settings you use to view the forums, edit your signature, or avatar, change your timezone, email settings etc. It is all relatively self explanatory. You can also support the site and purchase an s2ki membership there.
Problems?
If you're having problems logging in, or using the site in any aspect, have a look in Site Info Forum Your question or problem, may well be answered there.
If that does not solve your problem you can email support@s2ki.com or try and get hold of a mod or admin online.

How do I search before asking a question which may already be answered?
The best way to use search is to use the individual forum search box at the bottom of each forum. Being specific about what you want to search for. To improve your results, use the + sign (e.g. +roof +rattles) this will find posts with both those words in rather than just one of them.

How do I get an Avatar?
An avatar is the little picture to the left of someone's posting under their name. It can be used to represent your personality, a picture of your car, or anything! To choose or change your avatar, See MyS2K. You have to be an s2ki member to have a custom avatar
How do I get a Signature?
Again, you can do this in MyS2K Please be reasonable when setting your signature - no big pictures, not too many animated images, and less text than in an average post would be good, think about other users. Site rules apply, no bouncing boobies or nudity!
Why does it say I am an Enthusiast or Owner?
You can set this information in your Profile - again hit the MyS2K button
TLA's
TLA's or Three Letter Acronyms are often used as shorthand in the online world. Click here for a list of common TLA's (many have more than Three letters!)
Posting Pictures
Hit the MyS2K at the top, choose My Albums and you can use it like standard directories, you can then upload pictures from your PC. To post them in a new thread or reply, hit the new thread or post reply button and there is a handy little drop down menu called "Select Photo Album" which intuitively takes you to a selection screen so you can click a picture and put it in your post.
If you are wanting to link a picture from your own web site rather than the S2k Photo Album you need to use the "img" command and not the "http" command. Using the http will link to the web page whereas the "img" command pastes the photo into your post (without the file name, too)

Board Settings
There are various settings you can adjust to make your browsing of the forum easier or to suit your own style. Just go into MyS2K and see the Board Settings menu - you can adjust it so the forum shows up to 100 threads per page, which with the volume of threads posted may well be easier. You can also set it to view up to 50 posts per page when viewing a thread, the default is 25.
What are badges?
Badges are shown below your signature on your first post on any given page of a thread. Each badge is owned by a Community or specific forum on the site. The UK badges are as follows:
- UK S2000 Owner (a link to this UK Community)
- UK 'Muppet' someone who posts very frequently in the UK Muppets Forum
- S2K Jocks - a Scottish, or honoury Scottish board member - earned by doing a meet or 2 in Scotland
- S2K Ireland - an Irish user
There are various other badges all over the forums, if you want to know what one is, clicking on the badge in question will usually give you some clues. If there is a badge you want or think you deserve, just ask the relevant Community Organiser, or Forum Mod (listed on the Forums page next to each forum)
Guide to Posting - What do i post where?
There are many different forums, take a good look around - this is the main UK area, you can post anything S2000 here. Other non S2000 subjects should be posted in the Off Topic Area - this includes car related but not S2000 related topics. There are also the other forums, often referred to as the US forums, which are in fact international, where you can post, and get a lot of info from.
Don't worry as if you post something in the wrong place a moderator will move it for you and usually let you know it has been moved. But please try and help by posting properly in the first place!
New Users please introduce yourselves, even if you are not going to contribute a lot it would be good to say
a quick hello. Many people just read the site and don't contribute - that's fine nobody minds 
But don't be shy to say anything - everyone here is freindly and it is the most welcoming community I have ever found online Click here and say hi!
S2k Sightings - If you spot another S2000 it is traditional to flash and or wave. If you see another S please post it on the S2K Sightings thread (number 9)
Meets - The UK members often organise meets, whether they be informal gatherings at the pub, a lunch followed by an afternoon drive or a weekend on some lovely roads in the countryside. There is a Thread I maintain which shows all the current meets being organised, this is in the UK Meets and Events Forum
If you want to ask something, just ask!
If you have any questions don't be afraid to ask, you won't get flamed or belittled, and even if you do someone will stick up for you Just post a new thread and ask, or use the PM function to send a private message to someone.
Technical FAQ
Bassoctopus kindly maintains a Technical FAQ - this is full of very useful and essential S2000 information. Great for the new owner, or long time owner who wants to answer something. You'll find a link to it in the Important Info thread at the top of this forum.
Cars for Sale
There is a maintained list of S2000's for sale. You'll find a link to that in the Useful info thread.
The list of cars for sale is contained in the specific UK For Sale and Wanted Forum. Before selling anything in there please read the guidlines as to who and what can be sold in there, and if you are ONLY here to sell something - Don't bother!
