Default Front Licence Plate Soloution

This is just an idea I had. I saw the preivious group buy for the bys lisence bracket copy. The idea is putting a hinge on the licence plate so during normal operation or sitting still it would look stock, but at speed it would hinge down and lay flat to give the same ammout of airflow as if there wasnt a plate on at all. I have a prototype somewhat designed and I am trying to fab one up now.

Give me some comments or ideas. Thanks

Apparently several Miata owners have motorized their license plate bracket. If you do a search, you'll find info on this.

Here's a thread with a picture from earlier this year. https://www.s2ki.com/forums/showthread.php?...threadid=110689
The idea is novel, but I'd be concerned about it rattling around in the wind (maybe include a dampener of some sort?).

I just shaved a little off the top and bottom of the plate (total of about 1/4"), and zip tied it to the grill. It looks nice, and as long as the electric fan is working properly I'm not worried about overheating.

Two questions:
1) Where do you propose to mount the front plate? Will it be at the normal plate mounting location (as the link from slalom44 showed) or will it be at another location (in the grill area, or below, to the side, etc.)?
2) Can you post a picture of what your design looks like? What is unique with your design compared to all the others we have already seen?

Thanks.

I saw a picture once of a Japanese S2000 with the plate mounted over the left front fake air duct.

Lets face it. The S2000 was designed to be most visually pleasing with no front plate.

My front plate sits inside on the passenger's floor mounted in a metal and plastic license plate cover. As soon as that replacement mounting bracket comes in, I'll attach it to the front.

How about making a silk screen of a license plate on a piece of cloth then add your letters and numbers and lastly make some kind of rope mechanism like for a sail boat sail so from within the cockpit u can unfurl it when neccessary
