Stock Battleship Green/Gray Caliper. What was Honda thinking?
After prepping, I went with 1500 degree aluminum color header spray paint from Advance Auto. Applied 3 really light coats and waited between 30-45 min ea. to dry.
Highly recommend using this 3M Masking Product. It's a Tape & Plastic sheet combo. Very fast & leaves no residue on the body. It comes off a roll and has 2 foot of sheeting attached to the tape.
Portland sold me these decals and gave suggestions on how to apply. I liked the way his Silver logo on Black looked. Mine's the opposite color combo. I found a good flat surface for the rear logo.
I touched up the rust spots on the rotor in around the studs and the outside rotor vane area with black 1500 degree paint. Not sure how long it will last but I hate looking at the rust.
Job took total of 6 hours including the drying time between coats. Not a bad bonding time with my 13 year old son. We both took our time and I think the results are worth it. We both had a great sense of accomplishment putting the wheels back on carefully, as a matter of fact it's drying/curing now.
PS. If the Mod Day ever happens I'll be glad to help anyone out with this mod. Now to Zaino!
Yes, I plan on it but probably just on the logo's initially(easy to do with the wheels on by brush). A test area showed a change in color(duller). Maybe the paint wasn't completely dry yet or the two paints are not compatible. I really think putting on the 3 light coats will be durable, even so I'll let them cure for a while before I try.
I bought these decals during a GB that was held a few months back. They are no longer available as far as I know through the member that sponsored the GB.
I did hear that you may be able to find them on EBAY using "s2000 caliper decal" in the search engine.
