Default JDM wheel weights

I've seen lots of posts about the JDM forged wheels and how much they weigh, but I've never seen one where somebody said, "I weighed my JDM and my USDM wheels back-to-back, and this is what I got". That being the case... I weighed my newly-arrived JDM wheels and my USDM wheels back-to-back, and this is what I got:

JDM front: 13.5 lbs.
JDM rear: 14.4 lbs.

USDM front: 18.0 lbs.
USDM rear: 19.5 lbs.

All of my weights seem to be a pound more than what I've seen others post, but since they were weighed within five minutes of each other on the same scale (which was recalibrated between each weighing), I trust the relative weights.

On a more subjective note, when I unpacked the JDM wheels and lifted them for the first time, my initial thought was "these aren't that light!" Then I picked up the USDM wheels and almost got a hernia. The weight difference is significant and immediately noticeable when you hold them.

Can't wait to see how noticeable the weight savings is on course...

- whose car is fifty pounds lighter than it was on Friday

P.S. - On a tangentially related note, Kodiak Racing Wheels can't make stock-sized S2000 wheels, so don't bother calling them for that application.

I appreciate you posting the weights. Thanks. And those are the exact same size and offset as the USDM wheels, correct? I thought I had seen a post before, and the sizes were slightly different??? But they're still BS legal right? How else did you lose weight from the car? The wheels are good for 5 pounds a pop. Where'd the other 30 come from? Hoosiers? Spare tire?

Yup, the JDM wheels are identical in diameter, width, and offset to the USDM wheels. They're therefore legal for Stock class autocrossing; they're very popular because no one's found an off-the-shelf aftermarket wheel with the right dimensions, and because it's apparently very difficult to build a two- or three-piece custom wheel in the right size due to the brake caliper protrusion.

The other thirty pounds (33.2, to be exact ) came via a light but obnoxiously loud JIC single exhaust.

Wow! I didn't know a single exhaust conversion dumped that much weight. Impressive. I trust you're running on Hoosiers? Getting ready for Nationals... must be fun.

My PSC tires with JDM rims are 28 lbs lighter than the stock rim/tire setup.

Those stock rims seem kinda heavy. Are the balance weights still on them?

I bought them used off of another member on the For Sale and Wanted forum. Sets come up there every month or two, but are typically bid to death; don't expect to get a huge discount over the price of a new set.

Speaking of new sets, check out this thread for sources: https://www.s2ki.com/forums/showthread.php?...threadid=102403. Be aware that it can apparently take several months to get wheels shipped from Japan.
