Disconnecting the odometer is quite difficult and could have legal reprocussions. Most of the more intelligent people on here monitor the distance they drive and when they have reached exactly half-way the drive back in reverse.k

Sure no problem, as long as you are willing to let the guy driving your next new car put about 100,000 miles on the car which has 18 miles recorded on the odometer.

Screwing with it will impact your power steering and leave you in the limp home mode. If you were to do it, you would end up with problems (car and legal) in the end. Don't do it.
